The Second Instrumental Unit has developed a very special relationship with the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. For over five years, the Unit has been the Resident Ensemble of the Queens New Music Group. During this time, the Unit has astonishingly commissioned and premiered over 120 works to date for varying instrumental ensembles, including Pierrot Ensemble, String Quartet, String Trio, Piano Trio, Large Ensemble (22 piece), Wind Quintet, Wind Quartet, Brass Quintet, Mixed Quartets (including harp and organ), Vocal Ensembles, to name just a few. The Unit presents four concerts annually at LeFrak Concert Hall as well as venues in New York City. In addition to concerts, Director David Fulmer often leads the ensemble in masterclasses and workshops for the composition department.
